Aloha March 2026 and welcome back to your curated monthly calendar of events on Maui! If February felt like a whirlwind of festivals, fundraisers, and humpback sightings, March is the month where you can settle into a rhythm. One that still includes plenty of big nights out, plus those slow, golden afternoons that Maui does best. Think a morning run in Māʻalaea with the ocean glittering beside you. A casual First Friday stroll through Wailuku town with a snack in hand. An elegant Kapalua dinner that turns into a “remember-forever” kind of evening. And music (so much music!) stretching across the Valley Isle.
Maui Open Studios – Weekend Three (Feb 28–Mar 1, 2026)

If you’ve ever wished you could peek behind the curtain of Maui’s creative scene, Maui Open Studios is your invitation. This is a self-guided, islandwide celebration of working artists—meaning you’re not just browsing finished pieces on a gallery wall; you’re visiting studios and exhibition spaces where the magic actually happens. You can meet artists one-on-one, talk story about what inspires them, watch a demo here and there, and (dangerously!) fall in love with something you didn’t know you needed until it’s in your hands.

Weekend Three specifically focuses on South Maui. Plan it like a little art road trip: pick a cluster of studios, grab a coffee, give yourself permission to meander, and keep your day loose enough to stop when something captures you.
When: Saturday–Sunday, Feb 28–Mar 1, 2026 | 11AM–6PM
Where: South Maui (multiple studios/exhibition spaces; use the interactive map + artist directories)
Tickets: Free self-guided event (shopping optional, temptation guaranteed).
More Info: Visit Maui Open Studios 2026 for complete schedule, directories, and map.
15th Annual Maui 5K (Mar 1, 2026)
Start March with something that feels undeniably Maui: moving your body outdoors with the ocean right there beside you. The 15th Annual Maui 5K runs in Māʻalaea and gives participants choices—run the full 5K, go untimed, or opt for a shorter loop if you’re bringing the whole crew (or just want a gentler morning). There’s even a virtual option for anyone who can’t make it in person, which is a solid way for former residents or off-island ʻohana to stay connected.

What we love most is the mission: proceeds go directly to the community by funding local schools, and registrants can designate which school they’d like to support. It’s one of those events that feels upbeat and meaningful. Kids, parents, serious runners, casual walkers, and visitors all sharing the same start-line buzz. If you’re cheering instead of racing, Māʻalaea is a fun place to post up with a coffee and watch the morning unfold.

When: Sunday, March 1, 2026 | 7:00–9:00 AM
Where: Check in at the Maui Ocean Center front entrance, 192 Maalaea Rd, Wailuku, HI 96793
Tickets: $30 youth; $40 adults (or $35 untimed); plus a 1-mile option and keiki pricing.
More Info: Official registration + race details.

9th Annual Online World Whale Film Festival
Even if the in-person screening night is in the rearview mirror, the film festival energy continues all month. Pacific Whale Foundation’s Online World Whale Film Festival runs through March 31, which means you can turn any night into a Maui-style documentary night. Sink into the couch, stream impactful short films, and come away feeling a little more connected to the ocean that surrounds us.
The official film selection page includes watch links (you’ll see a mix of platforms like Eventive, Vimeo, and YouTube depending on the film). If you’re visiting Maui in March, this is a wonderful way to add a quieter, meaningful evening to your itinerary, especially after a long beach day. And if you live here, it’s an easy, inspiring way to keep whale season front-and-center while supporting marine conservation storytelling.
