Tower of Power

For nearly six decades, Tower of Power has defined the sound of funk and soul with an unmistakable groove that hits just as hard today as it did in the 1970s. Their 1972 breakthrough album Bump City launched a run of iconic hits including You’re Still A Young Man, Down to The Nightclub, So Very Hard to Go, and the immortal What Is Hip? Songs that became radio staples and helped cement the band’s place in music history. Rooted in what’s now known as the “Oakland soul” sound, Tower of Power built a style that is bold, brassy, and instantly recognizable.
Beyond their own chart success, Tower of Power’s influence stretches across generations of music. Their live shows remain a masterclass in rhythm, precision, and pure joy, a celebration of funk that rattles walls and fills dance floors.
