Maui’s best place to be on Halloween is easily Lahaina’s Front Street, it holds the reputation of having the biggest Halloween celebration in Hawaii! It’s estimated that every year there are 25,000 people in attendance to celebrate the Halloween tradition, many liken the festivities to New Orleans during Mardi Gras.  Since 2011, Front Street has been reorganized and has since been blocked to allow free flowing pedestrian traffic only.An annual keiki (children) parade and costume contest are some of the main attractions, but many bars and restaurants also offer their own entertainment. The keiki Parade usually starts around 3:30. Date: Monday, October 31st, 2016.

Spreckelsville is a lovely option for families with young children, and those with older ones as well. This neighborhood is mostly known for its prestigious beachfront and golf course properties, but it’s also well regarded for the tremendous family atmosphere too. Choosing to spend your Halloween in Sprecks is one of the safest options around because of this setting—streets are wide with well-lit sidewalks, there’s minimal vehicular traffic, and above all else, residents are festively decorated and more than generous with their goodies!

Another great and safe option is Maui Lani in Kahului by the dunes golf course. More than 1,100 homes are already part of the Maui Lani community and it is a professionally managed organization that helps ensure the community’s quality of life. The community is more family oritented so most homes always participate and the safety is in numbers.
