Make the most of the outdoors with your Maui home

My family recently purchased an outdoor pizza oven to enjoy our lanai living area. There’s something special about cooking while surrounded by the natural beauty of paradise. One of the best things about outdoor cooking in Maui is the abundance of fresh, local ingredients growing right out our front door. We can roast the Ulu (breadfruit) in our oven within view of the tree where it was picked.

Here are some ways that homes on Maui celebrate outdoor living:

Expansive outdoor spaces

Many homes on Maui feature large lanais that extend the living space beyond the walls of the house. These outdoor areas often include seating and dining areas, outdoor kitchens, and even pools and hot tubs.

6681 Makena Road has many great outdoor spaces.

Stunning views

With the beautiful scenery that surrounds Maui, it’s no wonder that many homes are designed to showcase the views. Floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding glass doors provide unobstructed views of the ocean, mountains, and lush tropical landscape.

Ho’olei Villa 63-2 has one of the best ocean views for any available Wailea condo.

Indoor-outdoor flow

Homes on Maui often feature open floor plans that seamlessly connect the indoor and outdoor spaces. This creates a sense of continuity and allows the natural beauty of the outdoors to be enjoyed from inside the house.

Our team’s Makena beachfront listing Hale Palau’ea has multiple outdoor spaces that flow beautifully from interior rooms.

Sustainable design

Sustainable design. Many homes on Maui incorporate sustainable design features that are both environmentally friendly and enhance the indoor-outdoor living experience. For example, homes may use natural materials such as bamboo or stone, or include features such as rainwater harvesting systems and solar panels.

The kitchen in 194 E Panana Place has beautiful wood cabinets that bring the feeling of nature indoors.

What do you want to see when you walk out onto your lanai on Maui? Here are some of my favorite properties that celebrate the outdoors currently for sale.
