Established in the 1990’s, Malolo Farm Proteas quickly established itself on the island as the go to experts for all retail and wholesale protea flower and plants. Located on the rolling slopes of Mount Haleakala, the picturesque views and wonderful climate are the perfect backdrop for growing these wonderful creations.
Due note that Malolo Farm Proteas is not open to the public for farm tours, but they are happy to accept appointments for flower or planting shopping.
Ran as a mother and daughter with the support of their team, the farm offers a variety of protea species depending on the season. Not only do they specialize in proteas, but they also offer tropical flowers to diversify their product base.
They even has certified nurseries to help cultivate and maximize the full potential of their flowers and plants. With more than two decades of experience, the farm is one of only a handful of successful protea farmers.
Ali Minney, primary farmer and owner/operator, is the matriarch of the Minney family and has been running the operations since the 1990’s. Her extensive experience and attention to detail goes a long way in understanding exactly what it takes to grow beautiful and full protea plants.
Paige Minney, the oldest daughter in the family, grew up on Ali’s back hiking throughout the farm, harvesting, packaging, and transplanting proteas.
The dynamic duo of Ali and Paige run the farm in tandem, doing everything together to ensure flower and plant receives the attention it needs. They also personally handle the creative arrangements and bouquets for clients.
