Sprecklesville: A Luxury Community on the North Shore of Maui

Elegant Local Style

Spreckelsville is located on Maui’s famous north shore, about 5 minutes away from quaint Paia town.  The neighborhood is an upscale beach community that fronts a two mile stretch of white sand, from Baldwin Beach to Kanaha Beach in Kahului.

It has been long valued by both kama’aina (locals) and visitors alike for it’s combination of natural beauty, convenience, and access to world class water sports and other outdoor activities. The Maui Country Club is conveniently located in the heart of the community, and offers golf, tennis, volleyball, amongst other things. “Sprecks” is home to a variety of families; some have been here for generations while others have recently relocated to the community.  The majority of homeowners here are full time residents.

The North Shore provides a different way of life than Maui’s famous resort destinations, such as Wailea or Ka’anapali. It tends to be more of a tribute to Maui’s natural beauty, as opposed to perfectly manicured grounds found in the major resort areas. The rugged cliff sides and lush rolling hills along the road to Hana are simply breathtaking.

More differences came be seen in day-to-day experiences. For example, a nice dinner on the North Shore could be going to Nuka (my choice for the best sushi bar in Haiku). Here you can come in tee shirts and shorts, be greeted by name at the door, and experience fine dining in a more casual setting. Compare this to a fine dinner in Wailea, like going to Ruth’s Chris Steak House, where black-tie and dress shoes signify a more traditional formula for an outstanding meal. It may sound like I’ve casted Wailea in a negative light, but this is not to case—I’m simply highlighting the differences the ways in which luxury can be manifested on Maui.

Why Choose Sprecks?

Sprecks is arguably one of the best places to raise a family on Maui. During the winter, the swaths of powdery sand and  ocean directly off-shore provide:

  • World-Class Windsurfing
  • Kite Boarding
  • Surfing
  • Skimming & Boogie Boarding

The calmer months during the summer boast better conditions for diving, swimming and fishing, and the Baldwin to Baby beach walk is one of the best on Island. Spreckelsville’s wide streets, sparse and slow moving traffic, and numerous cul-de-sacs are also great spots for bike-riding, rollerblading, and skateboarding.

Market Activity

The market of Sprecks is quite diverse, and homes can range anywhere from $800k-$13.5Million. As I said before, this is one of Maui’s most desirable family neighborhoods, which makes it an especially competitive market. One of the major benefits of this neighborhood is that it’s only a 15 mintue drive to Maui’s most prestigious school, Seabury Hall. 80 Ulupua Pace, sold by the Dano Sayles Team for $787,000

Many parents of Sprecks decide to send their kids to Seabury Hall for its wonderful reputation and acedmic accord. Since the begining of the year, there have been five homes sold in the range of $1Mil-$2.9Mil.
