June 2023 Maui Calendar of Events

Welcome back to your monthly Calendar of Events post! In this June 2023 Maui Calendar of Events, we present an expertly curated selection of experiences. From an agricultural festival celebrating the bountiful harvests to indulgent food and wine tastings, side-splitting comedy shows, dazzling cultural parades, and soul-stirring classical piano concerts. We hope to highlight that there really is something for everyone, so we can all enjoy and embrace the essence of Maui’s charm. Enough said…let’s get to the fun!

Maui’s best chefs know their way around a kitchen. Of course, that’s a given. But there’s more special relationships within our island’s culinary talent. These chefs also know the best farmers, ranchers and fisherman. They understand that nothing tastes better than locally grown produce, island-raised meat and fresh-caught seafood. With that in mind, what better way to showcase our island’s bounty than a local fundraiser, supporting those who make it all possible. Taking place in Wailuku, the heart of the Valley Isle, is this year’s Grand Taste, sponsored by ʻUlupono Initiative. 11 Maui chefs will choose local ingredients to highlight in a friendly competition to see who can create the best main dish or potluck plate.

This event is on par with some of my favorite food festivals on island, and features an all star cooking crew. Seriously, just take a look at this stellar lineup of Maui’s top locavore chefs participating in Grand Taste 2023:

When: Saturday, June 3, 2023; 2:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Where: War Memorial Special Events Field, 700 Halia Nakoa St, Wailuku, HI 96793. Tickets are $30 before June 1st, $40 after June 1st and available online here.

ArT=Mixx: INSTINCT

Each iteration of Art=Mixx proved to be some of the more impressive and unique events on Maui. The popular fusion of visual art, music, dance, fashion and interactive art-making returns after a 3-year absence. The theme for this edition: INSTINCT, is aligned with the current Anima: Doorways of Perception exhibit. Featuring entertainment by: DJs Boomshot and Sole Konkoba; Konkoba Drum & Dance Ensemble; Performing Artists; Interactive Art & Installations by Athena Medina; as well as video production by Fuzzbox, Event Horizons, and Cudra Clover Art. Of course various bites and beverages will be available throughout the evening. So, gather the crew, costume up, mingle with Maui and connect to the arts!

This event is free and attendees must be over 21, with valid photo ID. Better yet, a VIP Lounge is available for those wishing to enjoy a secluded respite. With a private indoor area and balcony that overlooks the event and stage performances, the upgrade is beyond worth it. The VIP Lounge offers event access via special express entry, a private cash bar, private restrooms, a lounge atmosphere, and all access to the event.

When: Saturday, June 3, 2023; 7:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. Where: Maui Arts & Cultural Center, Yokouchi Pavilion and A&B Amphitheater. Note: only a limited number of VIP tickets are available here for $45 (plus applicable fees).
