Over the years Maui has accumulated a multitude of diverse and delicious restaurants. All serving their respective cuisines and dishes. However, one of the most delectable dishes one can have on the island is poke. For those who don’t know what poke is, Poke (“POH-keh”) is a dish made up of cute of pieces of raw, marinated fish – typically tuna – laid over rice and vegetables with savory sauces.

Takamiya Market Inc
Takamiya Market Inc is one of the prime places to be if you enjoy delicious prepared foods such as Korean-style ribs, fried chicken, and of course: poke! Located in Wailuku, Takamiya Market Inc has been a local favorite for years on end. Poke options include: Spicy tuna poke, shoyu ahi poke, tako poke, and more!

Tobi’s Shave Ice & Poke
Located in the bustling town of Paia, Tobi’s is the go-to spot in Paia to get both poke and shave ice. It is the perfect spot to go after a long day of shopping at trendy shops along the strip or swimming at the beach. Tobi’s is also a terrific stop if you are planning an outing to Hana. Tobi’s offers a large selection of poke from spicy mayo, shoyu, wasabi, and many more.

South Maui Fish Company
Priding itself on its mission statement for sustainability, South Maui Fish Company uses freshly caught fish and locally sourced produce. The food cart is also conveniently placed in close proximity to all of Kihei’s premier beaches and local boutiques. There are two general options for the Daily Poke: Traditional or Spicy with the additional choice to mix. Served with rice and pineapple coconut milk coleslaw.

Fish Market Maui
Though known for its famous fish tacos, Fish Market Maui also has it’s charms in other dishes such as, burritos, burgers, lunch/dinner plates, and finally poke! The poke comes with wide selection of sauces to spice up the dish. Fish Market Maui prides itself on having the freshest seafood available, so if you’re in Lahaina be sure to stop by!

Tamura’s Fine Wine & Liquors
Originally starting as a small business during the 1920s, Tamura’s now has multiple locations in both Maui and Oahu. Though operating as a grocery store and liquor division, one of its hidden treasures is its must-try poke. There is an array of options to choose from, whether you prefer salty shoyu or spicy and creamy ahi bowl. There is also the option to do a split bowl, all of which are served over rice.
