Back for its annual tradition, MAPA’s The Nutcracker is a great family event for all ages! While widespread across the world, the local MAPA team puts their own spin on the performance with perfectly Maui touches. With only two shows, don’t miss out on a winter favorite. When: Friday, December 20th at 7:30 pm; Saturday, December 21st 2019 at 3:00 pm. Where: Maui Arts and Cultural Center.
Montessori School of Maui’s Annual Holiday Fair is the school’s largest fundraising event and goes a long way in providing support for their academic and enrichment programs. Among the variety of tents, event goers will have their choice of artisan goods, bake sale goodies, hand crafted items, jewelry and fresh wreaths made with native foliage by local vendors. Live entertainment will also be provided with a keiki fun zone, complete with bouncy castles, STEM activities, and face painting. Admission is free and open to the public. When: Friday, December 6th from 3:30pm to 7:30pm. Where: Montessori School at 2933 Baldwin Ave. in Makawao.
The Maui Gift & Craft Fair at Lahaina Gateway hosts an awesome event with one of the largest craft fairs on Maui encompassing over 50 vendors. On site a variety of offerings range from local Maui artists and vendors to photography and art. With plenty of activities for the kids and an abundance of food options, bring the whole family down for a fun Sunday. When: Saturday, December 29th from 9:00am to 1:00pm. Where: Lahaina Gateway Mall.
Arts & Culture
Na Mele O Maui, Maui’s only county wide Hawaiian song and art competition, is committed to the preservation and passing along the knowledge of Hawaiian mele, language, and arts. In fact this event has garnered esteem among the Hawaii community and has even been awarded the Kahili Award from the Hawaii Visitors & Convention Bureau’s. When: Tuesday, December 10th from 8:00am-2:00pm. Where: Maui Arts and Cultural Center.
Living Wreath Making with Native Plants hosted by the Maui Nui Botanical Garden is an excellent opportunity to learn about some of Hawaii’s native plants. They provide more than just food and habitat for wildlife: they also provide great beauty all year long. Learn to make a living wreath from Native Hawaiian Plants in time for the Holidays with MNBG Executive Director, Tamara Sherrill. When: Saturday, December, 7th from 9:00am to 12:00pm. Where: Maui Nui Botanical Garden. Cost: $50, or $25 for current garden members. Call 249-2798 or email info@mnbg.org for reservations.
