Aside from Goat Yoga, the latest trend to hit Maui is glamping, a combination of the words glamour and camping. While quickly made famous by social media, this isn’t just a fad, but a new reality for Maui’s adventure seekers and those not so inclined to the outdoors. It’s an easy for everyone to enjoy camping without having to lug bags of heavy gear to a camp site.
Located on the West Side of Maui, just off the Pali and a little ways past Leoda’s Pie Shop, is Camp Olowalu, the first phase a newly planned campground intended to mesh modern conveniences with good old fashioned camping.
They offer a variety ways to camp which are viewed as different levels of glamping: 35 campsites, 21 tentalows, camp in your own vehicle, or with a group in one the 6 cabins. Each are meant to accomodate everything from an authentic camping feel to full on glamping.
Their pricing tiers are as follows:
- Tent camping: $24/adult, $5/kid, under 8 years free (cost per night)
- Cabins for large parties: $1500 (cost per night)
- Tentalows: $140-$195 (cost per night)
- Car camping: $24/adult, $5/kid, under 8 years free (cost per night)
A large part of Camp Olowalu’s desirability lies in its private estate feel, away from Maui’s increasingly busy hustle and bustle. The camp grounds are beachfront and offer a range of ocean sports for all.
The attention to care is evident throughout the immaculate camp grounds, long stretches of green grass, and tropical flora running throughout the entire camp grounds. There are even fruit trees like papayas and bananas that dot the campground.
Guests will get a full range of experiences at Camp Olowalu and will be encouraged to maximize the days. Wild roosters will crow at the first crack of dawn to make sure you get up!
