July Calendar of Events 2019

Family Fun

Head on down to the Outlets of Maui on Front Street for an annual 4th of July celebration with “Jazz at the Shops”, a free concert featuring jazz guitarist Prem Brosio, Jake Thomas Quartet, and the King Kekaulike Na Alii Big Band. The concert is the finale of a day-long celebration that includes food trucks, Aumakua Polynesian Spectacular and face painting by The Party Zone. A spectacular fireworks display follows the concert. When: Thursday, July 4th from 5:00pm to 10:00pm. Where: Outlets of Maui on Front Street, Lahaina.

To celebrate summer, the Shops at Wailea has recently began to offer upscale and unique entertainment experiences to shoppers! One of their biweekly initiatives is their “Concert at the Shops”, where they bring in local artists to showcase Hawaii’s best musical talents. In July, the line up includes:

  • July 17th from 5:30pm to 7:00pm: Amy Hanaialii, Na Hoku Hanohano award winning singer.
  • July 31st from 5:30pm to 7:00pm: Anuhea, Na Hoku Hanohano award winning singer

The Arts & Culture

Summer always marks the beginning of Bon Dance season and regularly runs throughout the entire summer months until early September. It is an annual celebration, so be sure to attend at least once or you’ll have to wait until summer 2019 rolls around.

  • Paia Mantokuji Mission: July 12th from 6:00pm to 10:00pm
  • Kahului Hongwanji Buddhist Temple: July 19th from 6:00pm to 10:00pm
  • Makawao Hongwanji Mission: July 26th from 6:00pm to 10:00pm

Step back in time and Hoa i ka Lamaku with Koi Lum (Kukui torch making). Guests will learn the ancient craft of making lamalama (a torch) from the kukui tree with cultural practitioner, Koi Lum. Lamalama is Hawaiian for the traditional Hawaiian practice of night fishing by the light of torches. When: July 13th from 9:00am to 12:00pm. Where: Maui Nui Botanical Garden in Kahului.

Celebrating the 4th!M

The Sayles team unanimously agrees there is only one way to celebrate the 4th of July on Maui and that is going to the beach for an all day bbq! We recommend heading to the beach in the afternoon for an late afternoon, that way you can end the day watching a natural fire work show just as the sun sets!

While we all agree on the beach for the 4th, we have differing views on what beach is the best. Here are some our favorite beaches across the island:

Adults Night Out

MayJah RayJah 2019 is celebrating its 10-Year Anniversary with an all star line up sure to please any reggae fan or casual listener. Recently voted #1 festival in Hawaii, the 10 year celebration is a “must experience” for all music festival fanatics. This year’s lineup features national recording artists, Damian ‘Jr Gong’ Marley and SOJA each headline one night with many more surprise artists. When: Friday, July 26th and Saturday, July 27, 2019; starting at 5:30pm. Were: A&B Amphitheater at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. Cost: $49 per night for general admission.
