When Garret Marrero, owner, founded Maui Brewing Company in 2005, he never knew the company would be able to realize the kind of blistering success it has been able to achieve. With what started out as a passion for craft beer, has now turned into a local icon with international recognition and is on track to surpass more than $20 million in sales.

What makes the brewery so unique is they can claim to be a “truly Hawaiian brewery,” leaving nothing to waste. The company has been Hawaii’s biggest brewery presence since 2010. Beers are packaged with eco-friendly materials that are manufactured on Oahu and designed by local Maui artists.

To take their commitment to making Hawaii eco friendly even further, they have invested more than $9 million in grid-independent technology and are the first brewery in the country of its size to do so. They expect the brewery to run on 100% renewable energy and believe it will not only help the company’s bottom line, but also set an example for the rest of the community to follow.

Where Can You Find Maui Brewing Co.?

Maui Brewing Co. has gone through an aggressive growth phase over the last decade and have made their product offerings widely available to all. After starting out as a small brewpub in Kahana, West Maui, they launched their magnificent corporate head quarters, main brewing facility, and brew pub in Kihei just above the Hokulani Golf Villas for sale.

Over the last few years, they have gone on to open up to establishments on the island of Oahu. Their first location is located in the Waikiki Beachcomber by Outrigger, where it features an expansive open-air interior with a family-friendly vibe. Their newest location is in the heart of Kailua and only opened a few month ago.

While Maui Brewing Co. is a local beer, they only bottle a fraction of the beers  available. If you want to experience it all, you’re best off checking out any of their locations. However, checking out a local grocery chain like, Foodland, is your best bet to picking up a 6 pack.

• Imperial Coconut Porter- Nicely balanced with a dark black body, but on the sweeter side with a good earthy bitterness.
• Double Overhead Double IPA-Very nice, clean, crisp double IPA. Pours a nice darker golden color. Smells of tropical citrus hops, a little piney hops and malt.
• POG IPA-A.K.A. passion orange guava is a fruit forward IPA with a wonderful aroma that brings out the orange.
