Family Fun

The 5th Annual Made in Maui County Festival is an awesome event that was created to stimulate the Maui economy by boosting local sales and awareness of locally made products. The festival aims to display the hard work and creativity of the Maui community. Maui County’s largest products show, this popular event features over 140 vendors offering a wide variety of made in Maui County products, including food, art, crafts, jewelry, fashion, furniture, gifts, collectibles and more. Tickets are $35 per person, children 12 and under are free. When: November 2 and 3, 2018. Where: Maui Arts & Cultural Center. 

Holoholo Ka‘a 2018 is an interactive family friendly event where keiki get to climb aboard, pretend to drive, and take photos in emergency vehicles, heavy machinery, farm equipment, busses, and much more!  The Maui community from all sectors including local business, public utilities, non-profits, and government agencies showcase their vehicles while sharing their knowledge of duties and operating skills. Admission is $1 with food and drink will be available for purchase.  When: Sunday, November 4th from 9:00am to 1:00pm. Where: UHMC parking lot.
Kula School Harvest Festival 2018 hosted by the Kula School’s Parent Teacher Association is thrilled to announce their 31st annual fundraising event. It is Kula school’s largest fundraiser, and monies raised from this event are used to provide programs such as Physical Education, Art, and Music, which they otherwise would not have. additionally, funds raised also support classroom needs in each grade level as well as assist with various student activities not paid for by Government funding. Saturday, November 17, 2018, from 9:00am-4:00pm. Where: Kula School, lower field.
Basketball in Paradise! The Maui Jim Maui Invitational will be held a few days before Thanksgiving in Lahaina, with all 12 games televised on ESPN Networks. The 2018 field features Arizona, Auburn, Duke, Gonzaga, Illinois, Iowa State, San Diego State, Xavier. When: November 19th to 21st. Where: Lahaina Civic Center.

Adults Night Out

The 38th Annual Hawaii International Film Festival  comes to Maui is it recognizes new and emerging talent and facilitates dynamic cultural exchange through the cinema arts, specifically the Asia Pacific Region. The festival includes documentaries and film shorts, including premieres, experimental films, animation/digital works, and first features by new directors. HIFF selections and audiences reflect the diverse multicultural face of Hawaii – helping to enrich, enlighten and broaden support for Asian and Pacific films. When: November 30th to December 3rd. Where: Maui Arts & Cultural Center Movie Times: 

  • Moananuiākea: One Ocean. One People. One Canoe; Friday, November 30; 6:30 pm
  • Sharkwater Extinction; Saturday, December 1; 1:00 pm
  • 50 First Kisses; Saturday, December 1; 3:00 pm
  • Anote’s Ark; Sunday, December 2; 1:30 pm

Arts & Culture

During the first weekend of November, join Keith Maile,  a recognized Native Hawaiian artist and cultural practitioner for 2 workshops on creating ancient Hawaii fishing lures. In the first workshop, Keith will teach students how to make the pahi aku lure used to catch the aku fish. In the 2nd workshop, students will make a kepa lima. Created from the tooth of the great white shark or cow bone (the material used in this class) and mounted on a wooden handle that fit the palm of a hand, the kepa lima was the symbol of the members of Hale Naua, the secret society of King David Kalakaua. Fees apply to both classes: Tuition: $45; Supplies $75. Where: Hui Noeau Visual Arts Center on Baldwin Avenue. When: November 3rd from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm and November 4th from 10:00am – 12:00pm. 

Plenty of hands on activities at the Chinese Heritage Festival

In the month of November, Lahaina Town holds their annual Chinese Heritage Festival. The event honors its Chinese heritage and also recognizes the achievements of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen, known as The Father of Modern China. cIn the day, visitors can enjoy a film tribute and historical displays; while at night, guests can try their hand at cultural art activities like calligraphy, knot tying and printmaking. There will also be Chinese food and drinks for purchase. FREE admission. Where: Wo Hing Museum on Front Street. When: November 9th, 10:00am to 8:00pm.
