The 96th Annual Maui County Fair is always Maui county’s favorite weekend where it celebrates this year’s theme of “Good Ol Days.” The opening Thursday parade is Maui’s largest parade and is the official beginning of the Maui County Fair! With rides, food, entertainment, horticulture, livestock, homemaking, photography and art exhibits, it is a great start to the Fall season! The fair is always a great prelude to the upcoming Holiday season which will be upon us before we know it! Where: War Memorial Complex. It is always jammed packed and is spread out over four warm October days.

  • Thursday, 10/4: 5:00pm to 11:00pm
  • Friday, 10/5: 5:00pm to midnight
  • Saturday, 10/6: 10:00am to midnight
  • Sunday, 10/7: 10:00am to 11:00pm

Get an early jump on Halloween with Spookfest, a family-friendly halloween event for everyone to enjoy. Hosted Upcountry, the cool climate and dim lighting will only enhance the experience. There will be trunk or treat, concessions, costume contest, keiki games and a middle school dance open to all middle schoolers. This event is free and open to the public! When: Friday, October 26th from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. Where: Kalama Intermediate. 

All visitors and Maui residents are invited to the Schaefer International Gallery to enjoy their Observe & Play Family Day! Guests are encouraged to view the current Above the Fold exhibit together, discover the art and mathematics of origami, and enjoy the fun of paper-folding with hands-on activities. The exhibit is an engaging, thought-provoking, and interdisciplinary look at the modern advances of origami through contemporary artwork that demonstrates the extraordinary artistic achievements being made in the world of contemporary origami. When: Saturday, October 27 from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Where: Maui Arts & Cultural Center. 

Adult Entertainment

Rebelution – Free Rein Hawaii Tour, along with special guests, Tribal Seeds & Hirie, will be bringing the reggae vibes to Maui during the first week of October. A truly incredible experience live, the smaller venue atmosphere of the A&B amphitheaters makes it a uniquely intimate environment and gives concert goers an up close and personal view. Held under the moonlight Maui sky, go on down for some good vibes and even better music!  Tickets: $29.50, $39.50, $49.50/GA; $89.50/VIP. When: Friday, October 5, 2018 from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. Where: A&B Amphitheater at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. 

Arts & Culture

Take a family day trip or make a camping weekend out of it and check out the Hana Festivals of Aloha Parade & Celebration! To celebrate the kick off of the 2018 Festivals of Aloha festivities, Hana’s Royal Court will open the parade with floral floats, vintage cars, custom motorcycles, and a marching band. To continue the festivities, actives include the announcement of coveted community awards, live entertainment, Hawaiian crafts and many varieties of local dishes will be on show throughout. Where: Hana Ball Park. When: Saturday, October 6th from 10:00am to 5:00pm.

Restore Honokowai with Maui Cultural Lands by spending the day off the beaten path and helping to restore an ancient Hawaiian village on the west side. The plans are to spend some time removing invasive plants, learning about Hawaiian medicinal plants, history, and culture. Closed-toed shoes, a long-sleeved shirt, pants, and a hat are strongly recommended. Please bring your own gardening gloves, sunscreen, mosquito repellent, water, and lunch. Tools will be provided. Groups and families are welcome. Space is limited, RSVP required by emailing afonarow@mauioceancenter.com or calling 808.270.7059. When: Sunday, October 14th, 2018 from 9:00am to 1:30pm. Where: Meet us at the Sugar Cane Train Station parking lot at 1 Puukolii Road in Ka’anapali at 9:00am. Transportation into the valley will be provided from there.

Halloween Fun

Once a year, Lahaina town’s transforms into Maui’s Best Halloween celebration and is the ultimate Halloween Party on Front Street. Ranging from fun filled family-friendly activities, live music, and unique displays of ghosts, ghouls, and much more, you will never know how your night will turn out! The night begins on Front Street with the Annual Keiki Halloween Costume Parade and then continues into one big block party. Please enjoy your Halloween safely!  When: Saturday, October 20th, 2018 from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm. Where: Front Street, Lahaina.
