Maui Paddle for a Cure sponsored by the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa and The Butterfly Effect, is a non-competitive, easy going paddle to support and raise funds on behalf of Susan G. Komen, Hawaii Affiliate, supporting their efforts in aiding prevention, screening and treatment of breast cancer in Hawaii. When: Saturday, October 3rd, 2015 at 8:00 am at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa. More details at their website.

West Maui will celebrate the old says of Maui with old tails of the sugar and pineapple plantation days. The Lahaina Plantation Days festival at the Pioneer Mill Smokestack & Locomotives on Lahainaluna Road will be a good time for food, music and fun for the whole family from 5:00 to 10:30 pm on Friday, October 16 and Saturday, October 17. Admission is $5/person; kids 5 years & younger are free. Acres of free parking are available.

More for the women in the family since I know many of them have been waiting for this day. Victoria’s Secret Opens in Queen Ka’ahumanu and will be accompanied by The Angels as they are coming to Maui for a visit!

Awesome bar scene in Maui Brewing’s flagship Kihei location

The Maui Brewing Company will host their 6th Annual Oktoberfest at their new flagship location in the Maui Tech Park in Kihei on Lipoa Drive. The event will be hold on Saturday October 17 .with live entertainment and great food.

To support the next generation of talented chefs a benefit is being held for the Maui Culinary Academy at University of Hawai‘i Maui College. Saturday, October 17th will be the anticipated “The World on a Plate: Latin America”, a celebration of Nuevo Latino cuisine presentd celebrity Noble Chefs and the Maui Culinary Academy students they are mentoring. Hosted at the Fairmont Kea Lani Maui Resort, confirmed celebrity chefs include: Mark Ellman, Frida’s Beach House; Matteo Mistura, Matteo’s Osteria; Paris Nabavi, Sangrita Grill + Cantina; Geno Sarmiento, Nick’s Fish Market; Sheldon Simeon, Migrant; Ryan Urig, Grand Wailea. Date: Saturday, October 17th, 2015. Time: 5:30 pm. Kumu Nāpua with her student after she won the prestigious Miss Aloha Hula

Hālau Nā Lei Kaumaka o Uka, led by Kumu Hula Nāpua Greig, presents Mohala Mai 2015. Kumu Nāpua is an extremely talented artist and instructor, she holds a position at Seabury Hall and is under contract with Walt Disney to work on a few of their projects. This year, her and the hālau celebrate “Kuʻu Hae Hawaiʻi”, my beloved Hawaiian flag.  Along with some of Hawaiʻiʻs best musical artists, the hālau will perform hula, oli, and mele to honor the history of the Hawaiian Kingdom. Held at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center (MACC) on Saturday, October 24th, 2015 at 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Contact the MACC box office for tickets.

13th Kahanu Garden Ulu Cook Off will be held at the Hana Ball Park where the dishes will also be accepted for drop off. Dishes need to feature the Hawaiian staple, Ulu (breadfruit). Contestants need to make enough servings for the judges and to sell to the general public. Hawaiian Sisterhood- Art Show comes alive as visual artist Jazmin Sasky and fashion designer Tamara Catz tell rich and inviting stories about sisterhood and solidarity. They have partnered with Women Helping Women for the Hawaiian Sisterhood exhibition in Maui, Hawaii. It is free and open to the public, with an opening reception on Saturday, October 10th, 2015 from 6:30pm – 9:00pm at Tamara Catz, 83 Hana Hwy, Paia, Maui Hawaii. The exhibition is open for display from October 11th – October 17th, 2015 from 10:00 am-7:00 pm daily. Exhibit will be in Paia Town, a cool and eclectic little spot on the North Shore.
