Keeping in Touch with the Valley Isle

Being able to call Maui home is a dream that I get to live everyday. I know when I was away at college in San Diego, I would always catch myself thinking of Maui and it’s natural beauty. Luckily, these days they have social media platforms like Instagram to keep up with everyday life around the world. I offer my suggestions of Instagram accounts to keep you connected.

Kai Lenny: Ultimate Water Man

At age 22 Kai Lenny is quickly developing and enhancing his already renaissance water man reputation. You can usually catch Kai on the water charging sets from big to small, he has swiftly established himself as among one of the best SUP boarders in the world. Lenny achieved recognition in 2012 with first place at the Hawaii Island Finals SUP pro, and first place at the Sunset Beach SUP pro.

Kai is also an all around great guy, always positive, and happy to share his knowledge with the local grommets. He is a great role model for young water sports enthusiast. Lenny is also special for his ability to perform at high levels across different skill sets: big wave surfer, stand-up paddle (SUP) surfer and racer, tow-in surfer, windsurfer, kitesurfer, and celebrity water sports enthusiast.

Maui, Hawai’i

This Instagram account is ran by one of our former social media consultants, Chris. He is an awesome, family oriented guy; always out trying to and successfully capturing some of the best shots on Maui. I love this Instagram account because there are always high quality photos and so much effort is put into it. There is a wide variety of pics, and Chris is constantly in the know on all things Maui.

Maui Brewing Company

What is the beach without beer? The Maui Brew Company is locally operated, locally grown, and turn out some great product. My favorite is the Bikini Blonde (top one on the right). They recently opened a brew pub in Kihei, in addition to their first brew pub location on the west side. Maui Brewing Co. has a strong dedication t to the local economy, and deeply values the environment. They package in the most eco-friendly (and beer friendly) material, the can. Their spent grain is given to local farmers for feed and compost, contributing to local sustainability.

Maui Weddings

An unorthodox inclusion in the list, but I was recently introduced to their Instagram account during wedding planning a few months back. They take great high quality shots, of course they’re of their clients but I don’t really focus on them too much when they post stuff. I really try to study the locations they shoot at and try to recognize where they took the photo shoot because some of their shoot locations are absolutely Maui at its finest.
