The Only Destination for Fish
For the better part of three decades, Mama’s Fish House has been the Maui destination for some of the most succulent and delectable fish dishes. The Christenson family embraced the lifestyle of old Polynesia, when they decided to call Maui home in 1963 and in 1973 Mama’s Fish House was born! Nowadays, the restaurant holds the distinction of Maui’s first fresh fish restaurant where they prepare fish of the highest quality and embrace the aloha spirit.
Set just past the Kuau Store is the magical white sands of Kuau Cove which is just steps from the restaurant. The setting couldn’t be anymore more spectacular, you know that you are somewhere special the moment you drive into the parking lot because it also happens to have a wonderful view of the World Famous Ho’okipa Beach Park.
Through the path of gecko shaped stones lined with the coconut grove, past the giant clamshell, and under the banyan arch to a fantasyland of Hawaiiana kitsch is the entrance to Mama’s. The decor is in memory of old Polynesia on Maui’s North Shore of Kuau.
The property is beachfront and is absolutely gorgeous. At sunset, the sky illuminates to shades of blue, orange, red, and many other serene colors. Also, the ocean view is something else at sunset, our day is ending but the ocean’s is just beginning.
I must not also forget to mention that Mama’s also runs their Inn at Mama’s Fish House. It is very private and cozy beach bungalow, perfect for intimate vacations. The inn can hold maybe two to three parties of people at a time, make sure to reserve in advance!
