Cool Maui Events for Summer 2011

It’s time to get out and see what’s happening around Maui this summer. Here are a few Maui events for August 2011, make sure to mark these events on your calendars.

The eleventh annual Growing Dreams fundraiser will be ’60s retro themed at the Fairmont Kea Lani Maui Resort on August 6 from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm. The event features an auction and a floral design workshop with Floral Trend Consultant, Kevin Ylvisaker. Lunch will be included. Tickets cost $125 and $150 for VIP seating. The auction will benefit Maui Youth and Family Services, which offers youth outreach and advocacy programs, emergency shelters, and substance abuse and pregnancy prevention. August 27 may be a ways off, but you won’t want to miss “A Pathway to Our Future” MEDB Ke Alahele Education Fund Benefit Dinner and Auction at the Grand Wailea Resort Hotel and Spa. Entry costs $150 per person with sponsorships available. Senator Daniel Inouye and his wife Irene Hirano, and Mayor Alan Arakawa and his wife Ann will be featured at the event. Dinner and a live auction begin at 6:30 pm after a silent auction at 4:30 pm. The MEDB Ke Alahele Education Fund is committed to helping the community through educational projects that benefit students.

Lahaina will be holding the 57th Annual Maui Women’s Golf Invitational from August 6 to August 7 at the Kaanapali Golf Resort. Amateurs eighteen years of age or older are invited to play. The entry fee is $150. The first round begins Saturday at 12:30 pm.
