Kapalua Wine & Food Festival Over the Years

As the brain child of the Kapalua Wine Society in what I assume was concocted over a few bottles of wine, the Kapalua Wine Society first unveiled their big idea to the world in 1981 with the intent of educating and fostering an appreciation for fine wines and refined foods.

The Kapalua Wine & Food Festival has grown to such recognition that many come to see the products and talented chefs on display. The festival offers vendors the chance to showcase the local, national, and sometimes international products. Resort guests include a variety of demographics with local, national, and international representation all being in attendance.

Through the festival’s evolution, it has gone under some major transformations and has now become a very well rounded event. The once one dimensional festival now includes a wealth of options with it most notably being geared towards a certain standard.

The weekend events have grown to incorporate cooking demonstrations, wine and food pairings, winemakers’ dinners, a golf tournament, tennis clinic, the Kapalua wine tour and two major evening galas.

Select Crowd at Kapalua

With an emphasis on curating an event toward a certain type, the Kapalua Wine & Food Festival believes, as stated on their website:

“The Festival is also dedicated to obtaining the finest of wines and attracting proclaimed panelists. Attendance is purposely limited to approximately 3,500 guests throughout the four-day Festival in order to maintain the highest quality and attract only an affluent audience.

This distinction is achieved by hand-selecting the participating wineries and celebrity chefs and requiring them to showcase only their most reserved vintages and revered products.”
