Queen Ka’ahumanu Center will celebrate Hinamatsuri or Girl’s Day! Maui Minyo Kai will be presenting a Japanese Doll display, origami and kanzashi crafts, along with Japanese folk dancing.  Sanrio Ka’ahumanu will have Hello Kitty on hand for photos and will offer an opportunity for a chance-to-win a $100 Sanrio Gift Basket. Toni Rojas, Marketing Director says, “Girl’s Day is a Maui annual tradition at QKC. Family art class for ages 8 and up by Island Art Party! Basically, this is a fun art class for the whole family to attend because it gathers the whole family around a common activity and allows everyone to express themselves in their own way through painting. I’ve personally done one of these classes and it was a great opportunity to try out something different and an extremely welcoming setting. SEATalk with Edward Lyman is just the latest installment in the Maui Ocean Center’s efforts to educate and engage the Maui public on sea related topics. Edward Lyman, the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary’s Large Whale Entanglement Response Coordinator, will recount his 23 years of experience on the job. He will describe the difficult and sometimes dangerous task of disentangling 40-ton whales from the life-threatening entanglements humpback whales encounter during their time in Hawaii waters. Ukeke Workshop with Lance Genson Mahi La Pierre is a chance for all to make their very own ukeke. Yes, an ukeke and not an ukulele; an ukeke is a musical bow and the only indigenous Hawaiian stringed instrument. Mahi will share his knowledge with those who attend and teach participants a traditional mele ukeke. When: Saturday, March 3rd from 12:00pm to 4:00pm. Cost: $35 ($25 tuition fee and $10 supply fee). Register online at:

Support the Pūnana Leo o Maui, a Hawaiian language preschool by attending the Ho‘omau 2018 which is a benefit concert to help support the school through the funds raised. Entertainment includes some award winning artists and local favorites: Kapena, Nāpua, Keauhou, Kamaka Kūkona, Nā Wai ‘Ehā, and Tava Nui. Besides live music, the concer will also have live & silent auctions, crafts, ono Hawaiian food, and cultural demonstrations. Tickets are $15 presale and $20 at the gate. Bollywood Ball and Taj Mahalo After Party. Imua Family Services presents our new annual event series, “The Festivals of the World.”  This exciting weekend includes our annual gala, The Bollywood Ball on March 31st at the Hyatt Regency Maui, and will transport guests for an evening celebrating the beauty and pageantry of India. The following day, we present an exciting family-friendly event, The Color Festival Hawaii on April 1st at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center.
