Family Fun

Celebrate the year of the dog! Enjoy Chinese New Year in Lahaina by ringing in lunar new year on Front Street at the Wo Hing Museum and Cookhouse! Every year, the Lahaina community comes together through Chinese lion dancing with drums cymbals and firecrackers, cultural art activities (calligraphy & knot tying), presentations about Chinese New Year history, and traditional arts. In addition to these hands on activities, there will also be martial arts demonstrations and instrumental performances along with Chinese tea served in the garden. When: Friday, February 23rd from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Where: Wing Ho Museum on Front Street in Lahaina.

Queen Ka’ahumanu Center (QKC) announces the 2nd annual Heart Health Festival which is an ongoing commitment to the Maui community. The festival will feature hands-on CPR demonstrations by Maui Fire Department, blood pressure screenings by Hui No Ke Ola Pono and Medical Reserves, The Women’s Cardiac Support Group by Kaiser Permanente, heart healthy Cooking with Kids by American Heart Association, along with a myriad of prevention and educational booths. Via Toni Rojas, QKC Marketing Director,“It’s so very important to continue to educate and bring awareness to heart disease and stroke prevention.” When: Saturday, February 10th from 10:00am to 1:00pm. Where: Queen Ka’ahumanu Center.


The 38th Annual Maui Whale Festival is a series of actives put on by the Pacific Whale Foundation during peak humpback whale season on Maui. At the heart of each event, the activity is specifically coordinated to educate the public about these beautiful creatures and raise awareness of our impact on humpback whales. Adult’s Night Out

ArT=Mixx: NOSTALGIA hosted in tandem with the current art exhibit will feature guest artists, DJs, and live performances. Although the event is free, it is only open to anyone 21 and over; so get your group of friends together for a fun and artsy night out! The theme for this edition is nostalgia and flashes back the ‘70s and ‘80s where costumes are encouraged, mingling is a must, and connect with the arts! When: Saturday, February 3 from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. Where: Maui Arts and Cultural Center at Schaefer International Gallery/Yokouchi Pavilion. 

Art Affair 2018: Hokusai! Catch the Great Wave of Creativity & Giving is the Hui No‘eau Visual Arts Center annual Art Affair fundraiser. As one of the premier fundraisers of the arts, the themed art auction and social event is meant to benefit the visual arts education of the Maui community. The evening of fun will boast a live and silent auction, live music, dancing, a gourmet seated dinner by Chef Bev Gannon and Celebrations Catering, signature cocktails, and an opportunity to gather and celebrate with a wonderful community of visual art supporters. The Hui encourages guests to embrace and celebrate in the spirit of the theme by dressing the part. When: Saturday, February 24 from 5:00pm to 10:00pm. Where: Hui No‘eau Visual Arts Center on Baldwin Avenue.

The Arts & Culture

Moonlight Mele Concert by the Maui Historical Society is set to host a benefit concert called “Moonlight Mele with George Kahumoku, Jr. & Friends”. The concert will feature Hawaiian music by the University of Hawaii, Maui College, Institute of Hawaiian Music, and of course Hawaiian entertainer and Hawaiian music mentor, George Kahumoku, Jr! Where: Hale Hō`ike`ike at the Bailey House in Wailuku at 2375-A Main Street, on property owned by the Maui Historical Society. When: Saturday, February 3 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. for a fee of $5.00 per person. Children 12 and under are free.
