Last year’s tree lighting at Ulupalakua Ranch

Only in its 4th year, the Holiday Tree Lighting on the grounds of MauiWine at Ulupalakua Ranch is an awesome family fun event because of the crisp Christmas chill in the air which makes Upcountry the ideal place to celebrate the holiday season. Admission to the tree lighting is free, but MauiWine asks that all guest try and bring cans of non-perishable food to be donated to the Maui Food Bank. The holiday festivities include: lighting of the holiday tree, live music entertainment by Haiku HillBilly’s, Santa’s arrival, photos with Santa, screening of a holiday movie under the stars, letters to Santa for the keiki, and tastings of MauiWine’s exclusive estate wines for the grown-ups (must purchase tickets). Holiday beverages and comfort food will be available for sale by Three’s food truck. When: Saturday, December 9th from 4:30pm-8:30pm. Where: 14815 Piilani Highway in Kula on Ulupalakua Ranch. 

basketballMAUI presents the 2nd Annual Women’s Maui Jim Classic. Held at the War Memorial Gym in Wailuku, Maui will be treated to a two day event that will feature two games per day, great food trucks, world record breaker and basketball trickster Joe Odhiambo, a performance by local ukulele musician Derick Sebastian, and many prize giveaways including Maui Jim sunglasses! The 4 Women’s NCAA division 1 college basketball teams that will be attending are Oregon State, Nevada, Montana State, and Utah State. When: Friday and Saturday, December 1st & 2nd, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Where: War Memorial Gymnasium in Wailuku. 

The Haleakala Waldorf School Holiday Faire is an Upcountry condition that started more than 30 years ago. Since 1985, the event has been dedicated to Haleakala Waldorf where proceeds go towards supporting the Waldorf kids. The Holiday Faire will include: local and international craft vendors, delicious food, wonderful live entertainment, an amazing Silent Auction, hands on crafts, a bake sale, beautiful hand made wreaths, games, puppetry and more. All 100% of the silent auction proceeds will go directly to the Haleakala Waldorf School’s Tuition Assistance Program. When: Saturday, December 2nd from 9:00am to 4:00pm. Where: Haleakala Waldorf School just of Lower Kula Road. 

Queen Ka’ahumanu Center welcomes Da Maui Sleigh for one day only! Da Maui Sleigh is an annual holiday tradition, visiting communities throughout Maui bringing joy and happiness to Maui’s keiki. “James Presbitero, Santa, and his team of elves truly exude the spirit of the holiday season.  We can’t wait to witness all the joy and smiles,” says Toni Rojas, QKC Marketing Director. Children and adults with special needs are welcome to enjoy Da Maui Sleigh from 3:30 to 4:30pm. General admission commences at 5:30pm with the last ride scheduled at 8:20pm. When: Friday, December 8th from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. Where: North-East parking lot, corner for Ka’ahumanu Avenue and Kane Street. 

An always popular time on Maui, Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center will once again bring a white Christmas to Maui! Due to its extreme popularity, QKC transforms into a giant snow globe with its three times a week “Let it Snow!” snowfall experience. QKC guests will be in for a treat as snowflakes will descend on Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center’s center courtyard during its “Let it Snow” shows at 6:30 and 8 p.m. Each snowfall will be held every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from December 2 through 23. When: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from December 2 through 23 from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. Where: Queen Ka‘ahumanu Center. 

Queen Ka’ahumanu Center is happy to two announce their Wrap-it-up-Wednesdays Holiday Gift Wrapping Class! Aunty Ruth, aka Mrs Claus, will offer lessons in making your holiday gift wrap extra special this year. On December 13, the theme will be Japanese-style gift wrapping; on December 20, the theme will be wrapping round gifts. QKC asks that you bring your own gift to wrap and reservations are not required but seating is limited. “Aunty Ruth will provide exquisite wraps and ribbons, and share with you all the tricks to make a beautiful presentation,” says Toni Rojas, QKC Marketing Director. Where: Queen Ka’ahumanu Center. When: Wednesday, December 13th and 20th from 10:00am to 12:00pm.

Project Gift’s 3rd Annual Project Gift Christmas Toy Drive and Fun Fair is an awesome local initiative birthed out of a desire to bless the keiki of Maui. The focus of this event is to get Christmas gifts to children that are homeless, living in shelters, or spending their holidays in the hospital. The event is a free family event; while one person can make a difference, a community of people united can change an island. This year’s event will include: local craft vendors, ono food, live music, a silent auction, country store and of course our popular Keiki Snow Zone with a 225 Sq. Ft. Snow Pit, face painting, balloon artists, gingerbread house making and make and take crafts. Toys, gifts and monetary donations for children ages birth to 18years old will be received at the event. When: Saturday, December 9th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Where: Hale Ho’ike’ike (formerly known as the Bailey House Museum).

Celebrating the New Year

Pride of Maui  & Leilani Ultra Premium New Year’s Eve Cruise is an excellent and an adult only way to spend your New Year. Pacific Whale Foundation New Year’s Eve Cruise is another option for a New Year’s eve cruise and is on the more affordable side. The cruises are a great way to enjoy awesome views of the firework shows, but without the crowds. The Pacific Whale Foundation has seen so much demand in their cruises that they are offering two special New Year’s Eve Cocktail Cruises, one leaving from Ma’alaea Harbor and the other from Lahaina. Tickets include three complimentary cocktails, live music, dinner buffet, and champagne toast. Call at 808-892-3177 for availability. ($71.95 for Adult ticket)

 Sheraton Maui New Year’s Eve Dinner & Countdown Party is one of Maui’s best New Year’s Eve experience with a full dinner buffet event at Black Rock Steak & Seafood. Ticket fees include entrance to the countdown party (for guests who are 21 and older) where it will feature a balloon drop, DJ and special champagne toast! Tickets are available for the Countdown Party without dinner for $25 at the door; $85 for Adult buffet ticket, including entry to Countdown Party. When New Year’s Eve, December 21.
