Literally only 50 yards from Kihei Alii Kai is Koiso Sushi Bar, it has carefully cultivated a reputation for being the most authentic sushi experience in Maui, everything is prepared in a way that you can only find in Japan. The popular spot has achieved near-legendary status on this island, if only you could get in and be patient enough to plan months in advance.

The tiny restaurant can only seat up to 15 people and highly recommend making reservations weeks in advance. When you do call to make reservations, it is a take it or leave it kind of deal as they can easily fill open spots if need be.

The Beach: Kamaole Beach I, II, III & Charley Young Beach

Charley Young Beach is favored by the local population not only for it’s convenience in Kihei, but also for it’s fishing. The sand on the beach is extremely soft and fine with golden tones. The sand carries right into the ocean and provides a welcoming entry into the ocean without worrying about stepping on rocks or coral. This beach is also great for swimming because it is usually on the calmer side.

The trio of Kama’ole beaches, or as the locals call it Kam I, II, or III, are some of Kihei’s most recognizable as well as popular beaches. All of the beaches provide some seating areas with the grassy field at Kam III being a popular choice for birthday parties, family gatherings, or any kind of occasion. All three of the beaches house public picnic tables, restrooms and outdoor showers. They also have a free parking lot or adjacent free street parking at each beach.
