Flatbread Benefit for the Birds is meant to aid in the development and implementation of techniques designed to recover Maui’s endangered birds and replenish native habitats. The event is held at Flatbread in Paia, where they are known for their wood-fired flatbread pizzas made with all organic and locally produced ingredients. A percentage of flatbread sales will go to forestry research and recovery; you can either dine in or take out and it will still go to the Maui Forest Bird Recovery Project. When: Tuesday, August 1st from 5:00pm to 10:00pm. Where: Flatbread Pizza Company in Paia.

The Youth Art Exhibition Opening Celebration is meant to recognize and display the local Maui talent of  the 250+ youth participating in the Hui’s summer art programs. The culmination of all the children’s work results in a myriad of explosive and vibrant creativity. The Hui emphasizes the development of youth and celebrates the extraordinary possibilities yet to be unlocked by youth through visual arts education! Aside from the art itself, the Hui No’eau grounds are incredible place with a rich history and definitely someplace you have to check out! When: Friday, August 4th, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Where: Hui No’eau Visual Arts Center just off Baldwin Avenue.

The Queen Ka’ahumanu Center is proud to present Paula Fuga LIVE on the Queen’s Stage! Recognized as one of Hawaii’s most sought-after entertainers, she has earned widespread critical acclaim for her exquisite vocals, powerful lyrics and soothing melodies. She will be performing songs like, Lilikoi, which earned her the Na Hoku Hanohano Award (Hawaii Grammy’s) for the most promising Artists of the Year. When: Saturday, August 19 from 6:00pm to 7:30pm. Where: Queen Ka’ahumanu Center center stage.

Come on down for a good cause, The Pacific Whale Foundation will be hosting the Maui Premiere of A Plastic Ocean. It is a feature-length adventure documentary brining to light the consequences of a global disposable lifestyle. It is meant to create an impact in people’s live and force them to consider green options. Price of admission is $15 in advance, $20 at the door. Proceeds will fund ongoing research and outreach projects conducted by Pacific Whale Foundation’s Research Team. When: Thursday, August 3, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Where: The Historic Iao Theater, 68 N Market St, Wailuku.

Adults Night Out

The Maui Huliau Foundation is set to host their 5th annual farm-to-table celebration, where they showcase agriculture grown on Maui featuring local chefs and student-produced films. This years event will have numerous chef stations, a larger bar and a computerized silent auction allowing mobile bidding. Guests can also enjoy live music and a food-themed student film contest. All funds raised will benefit Maui Huliau Foundation’s environmental education programs for Maui youth. When: Saturday, August 12th from 5:30pm to 9:00pm. Where: Sugar Beach Events in North Kihei.

Fish is a fast cooking, healthy, and delicious dinner, but it is something that can easily be overcooked. Hawaii has some of the best fish in the world and it is a shame to not take advantage of the local bounty. Cooking On Maui With Chef Lee: ‘Seafood with Style’ is a class specifically designed our ocean-centric meals. Cheff Lee will teach you how to make a little bit of everything and will also learn the secrects behind the professional seafood cooking techniques. Carl Anderson will be tagging along to make cocktails that pair perfectly with the delicate texture of the seafood. When: Monday, August 14th from 5:30pm to 9:00pm. Where: Sugar Beach Events.

Maui Calls 2017 – Celebrating Plantation Days is the signature fundraising gala for the Maui Arts and Cultural Center. Attendees can mix and mingle with one another as they can dine on delectable creations by Maui chefs regarded as the best on the island. The event will have a silent and live auction with chances to win hundreds of items, from fabulous Hawaii staycations to “uniquely Maui” items, oe one-of-a-kind Maui adventures to uniquely MACC items. The night will conclude with live music by Jimmy Mac and the Cool Cats under the glowing roof of Yokouchi Pavilion! When: Friday, August 18 from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. Where: Yokouchi Pavilion and A&B Amphitheater at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center.

La Ulu: Breadfruit Day at Maui Nui Botanical Gardens has partnered up with Ulupono Initiative and the Maui Breadfruit Company. The Maui Nui Botanical Gardens will host the first ever annual La Ulu: Breadfruit Day! This is a free community event that will include food booths, breadfruit cooking demonstrations, Pacific ulu varieties for sale, a multi-grower Hawaiian plant sale, free cultural activities, Hawaiian music and Hula! When: Saturday, August 26th from  9:00am to 3:00pm. Where: Maui Botanical Gardens.
