Family Fun

Spring Fair 2017 is the 3rd annual installment of the Spring Fair featuring local vendors of arts, crafts, personal care items and more; the main feature is the huge Rummage Sale that will be set up inside the Community Hall. A farmer’s market will offer fresh produce and flowers, food booths and a bake will be offered. All proceeds will benefit the ongoing renovation and maintenance of the 100-year-old Community Hall. When: gates open at 8 am to 2 pm on Saturday, March 25, 2017. Where: Makawao Union Church located on Baldwin Avenue between Paia and Makawao.

Nogales: Storytellers in Cartel Country is an awesome and educational experience for the entire family. The story chases life story of José Antonio Elena Rodríguez, a teenage Mexican boy who was fatally shot by a United States border patrol across the U.S./Mexico border at Nogales. The production is an original and deeply relevant story in today’s current events. When: Thursday, March 16, 2017. Where: McCoy Studio Theater; 7:30 pm

Adults Night Out

Taste of School Gardens is hosted at the beautiful Hotel Wailea Sunset Lawn where special dishes include all the good things growing in our local schools. The event showcases Maui’s premiere chefs coming together to support school gardens and inspire our future farmers, chefs, teachers, and scientists. Longtime supporters from of some of Maui’s finest establishments include Chef Craig Dryhurst of DUO at Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea and Chef Kevin Laut of Outrigger Pizza Company. Guests will enjoy dishes made from local and school garden grown ingredients, fine wine, live music, and ocean sunset views. Fun, unique dinner events will be featured in the live auction. When: Sunday, March 5th, 2017 from 5:00pm-8:30pm. Where: Hotel Wailea Sunset Lawn.

Women Helping Women Maui’s  40th anniversary gala, “A Jedi Night, 40 years of the Force Within” operates on behalf of signature sponsors, Kaiser Permanente, Alexander & Baldwin, and Goodfellow Bros. They all would like to invite everyone to the 40th anniversary gala. The celebration will be a fabulous dinner, entertainment, and silent auction aiming to end domestic violence. We are seeking donations for our silent auction, paid advertisement in our event program as well as additional sponsorships. Please get these to us by February 17th. All event proceeds go to funding our emergency shelters and support programs for victims of domestic violence on Maui and Lana’i. Where: King Kamehameha Golf Club in Wailuku. When: Sunday, March 5th, 2017 from5:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

The Arts & Culture

Hoʻomau 2017 is Maui’s premier Hawaiian cultural event in Central Maui, they will be celebrating their 30th year and offer silent and live auctions, children activities, crafters, food, and cultural demonstrations throughout the day. This Hawaiian music concert benefits Pūnana Leo o Maui, a Hawaiian language immersion preschool in Wailuku. The event also supports other Kula Kaiapuni and Pūnana Leo Hawaiian immersion educational programs on the island. The event features some of the most popular and talented Hawaiian musicians in the state. When: Saturday, March 25th, 2017 from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Kuana Torres Kahele is a great chance for all interested in widen their experience in a harmonic meshing of cultures. Kuana Torres Kahele, a musician, vocalist, songwriter, record producer, dancer, and more is known for his poetically rich lyrics. He is one of the most popular entertainers performing in Hawai‘i and Japan. Kuana currently maintains his own Hawaiian music & culture school in Japan. When: Saturday, March 18, 2017. Where: McCoy Studio Theater, 7:30 pm.
