December Calendar of Events 2016

Family Fun

As the Sayles Team, we strongly value the idea of ohana as each and everyone of our team members play an intergral role on the team. With that in mind, we feel the Holiday Season is a time for family; so in our December Calendar of Events 2016, we are choosing to emphasize the theme of ohana and will only be featuring “Family Fun” events!

MAPA’s Nutcracker Sweets is a sweet treat for Maui residents this holiday season. • Ka’anapali Beach: December 18th at 4pm check out Santa and his trusty reindeer paddle an outrigger canoe onto the beach riding a wave.  Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available to listen to Christmas wishes while giving out goodies. Elves will be working in the cookie workshop nearby.

New Year’s Celebration

Historically, Wailea is the place to be for the island’s biggest fireworks show. Typically the show is financially backed and hosted by the Wailea Resort Association, so it is a very well funded show. However, show is not widely advertised because there isn’t enough parking available to open it to the general public. The midnight fireworks display should be visible from most Wailea resort properties with the fireworks shooting from 600 to 700 feet off shore.

Amazing sunset I caught from Keauhou at Makena on 4th of July a few years ago

Not a traditional fireworks show, but consider heading to a South Maui beach for sunset and catch a magical natural fire work show! During the winter months, the sun sets early so you won’t have to get to the beach too late and can head to an early dinner right after sunset. A few years back, I was able to catch a magical sunset on 4th of July that could surely rival any fireworks show.

Another option for the adventurous is to take a New Year’s Eve Cruise from Lahaina or Ma’alaea. They are available to a children and adults. But please do your research because some offer better deals or amenities than others. We recommend using “New Year’s Eve cocktail cruise Maui” as the search phrase in Google.

  • The Pacific Whale Foundation always does a good job and is offering a number of New Year’s Eve cocktail cruises that depart from Ma’alaea and Lahaina harbors. Lahaina Harbor is closer to the West Maui resorts, but parking in Lahaina can be challenging to find at times. Ma’alaea Harbor is closer to Wailea than Lahaina, but parking is much easier, in the large parking lot by the Maui Ocean Center.
