Hawaii Average Homes Prices on the Rise
As expected, Hawaii is once again among the most expensive state in the nation to purchase a home.
A national report produced by Coldwell Banker lists the average asking price for a 4 bedroom, 2 bath home in Hawaii at $904,954. Compared to last year, the average asking price is up more $250k since last year.

Hawaii’s average asking price is $325,000 more than the second-priciest state,Massachusetts; the average four-bedroom costs $577,855. The average home price in Honolulu is $1.2 million, the highest in the state but 14th-highest among municipalities nationally.
The Coldwell Banker report lists the priciest market to buy a home in 2016 is Saratoga, California where the average asking price for a 4 bedroom is $2.5 million. California markets are some of the priciest neighborhoods to get into with 6 of the 10 most expensive markets nationally falling in the tech hub Silicon Valley.

Meanwhile, Hawaii markets with the exception of Honolulu saw “affordable” housing prices, but those prices still increased from 2015. The average price of a 4 bedroom in Kapolei is $708,000, 106th highest in the nation; up from $569,000 in 2015. The average price in Ewa Beach is $653,000, compared to $597,000 in 2015.
Across the nation, the most affordable market nationally is Detroit, where the average price of a 4 bedroom is $64,000. Cleveland fell as the 2nd most affordable location with an average list price of $73,000.
