Family Fun

 The Hui No‘eau Visual Arts Center invites the whole family down to their enchanting estate forFamily Day: A Community Celebration of the Arts, a family-friendly celebration marking the grand the opening of the Hui’s Youth Art Exhibition 2016. For the keiki (children) there will be  a scavenger hunt (1st 50 people only), live glassblowing demonstrations, hands-on artists workshops, face painting, food trucks, and much more. The event is open to the public and is a great opportunity to wander the Hui grounds, enjoy a picnic on the lawn, and investigate the Hui’s professional artist studios. Where: Hui No’eau on Baldwin Ave. Date: Saturday, August 6th, 2016 Time: 10:00 am to 2:00 pm

The Hana Cultural Center invites all to their 18th annual Ho’olaule’a below the Hana Ranch Store. Everyone is invited to learn about the Hawaiian culture through live music, hula performances, hands-on kapa and cordage demonstrations, traditional Hawaiian games and more. The annual festival highlights the people, culture, and history of Hana with Hawaiian music, food booths, farmers market, crafts booths, lucky draw, silent auction and more!It is definitely a journey out to Hana, but it is one that’s worth every twist and turn in the road; spend time at the festival in the morning and then take some food down to Hamoa Beach for a lunchtime picnic. Where: Below the Hana Ranch Store. Date: Saturday, August 20th, 2016. Time: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Adults Night Out

Maui’s premier gala and fundraiser event, Maui Calls: Celebrating Vintage Hawaiian Fashion, is the Yokouchi Pavilion/A&B Amphitheater MACC’s signature fundraiser gala. The theme for this year is “Celebrating Vintage Hawaiian Fashion.” A silent and live auction will feature fabulous Hawaii staycations and fine wines to “Uniquely Maui” items, such as special house parties, and “Uniquely MACC” items, like autographed music instruments & more! To celebrate the 70th Anniversary of Easter Seals legacy in the Hawaiian Islands, a statewide culinary tour, The Traveling Plates aims to raise awareness of Easter Seals in Hawai‘i, and funding for future programs and services. Events will be held on Kaua‘i, Maui, Hawai‘i Island and O‘ahu during the Summer of 2016. Each event will exclusively feature local celebrity chefs and use locally sourced ingredients. Where: Sugar Beach Events-85 North Kihei Road. When: Sunday, August 7, 2016. Celebrity Chefs attending:

The Arts & Culture

The Hawai‘i International Music Festival is a special concert combining the finest classical music with Hawaiian culture, featuring performances by Silberger and Shoremount-Obra, along with soprano Mikayla Sager, cellist Daniel Lelchuk, and pianist Kwan Yi. They will be featuring undiscovered gems by Shostakovich, Piazzolla, Kodály, Rachmaninoff, Bachelet, Mozart, and more! Where: Sunday, August 14, 2016. When: McCoy Studio Theater at 7:30 pm.

The 4th annual Huliau Food & Film Festival is a farm-to-table celebration of local agriculture featuring local chefs and student-produced films. The event will feature booths showcasing farm-to-table techniques, and there will be a cash bar slinging 100% locally-produced cocktails, beer and wine. Guests will also enjoy live music, aerial silk performances, a silent auction and a food-themed student film contest.  The event admission will be $95 and the funds will go towards Maui Huliau Foundation’s environmental education programs for Maui youth. When: Saturday, August 6th, 2016. Time: 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm. Where: Sugar Beach Events-85 North Kihei Road.

Lahaina Society’s Fine Art Fair is a great way to discover some of Maui’s most talented fine artists. Showcasing their work under the Banyan Tree next to the historic Old Lahaina Courthouse, on feature will be paintings, ceramics, photography, glass art, wood carvings, jewelry, baskets, and more! While there, you’ll also want to browse other works found in the Banyan Tree Gallery and the Old Jail Gallery inside the Courthouse. When: August 6th & 7th.
