Have any plans for Saturday, Feb 6th? Support the Baldwin High School students & programs at their 2nd annual BHS Block Party on the front lawn from 4:00-8:00pm. Eat at their student ran food booths or at local food trucks like Mo Ono Hawaii, Lau Hee’s, Al’s BBQ Pit, Aloha Kettlecorn, DeRay’s Poi Mochi, Kona Ice, & Thai Kitchen! Enjoy non-stop entertainment by BHS Hula Halau and Drama students in Godspell will be performing as well as, Zenshin Daiko, MAPA, Na Wai Eha!

Lahaina enjoys the Chinese new year with an annual lion dance, firecrackers and Shaolin kung fu demonstrations in the Wo Hing Museum yard on Front Street starting at 5 pm. Then, the exciting lion dane will parade along Front Street, visiting merchants. The Wo Hing Museum also hosts a FREE celebration from 10 am to 7 pm with kids’ crafts, cultural demos, music, martial arts videos and presentations on the history of Chinese New Year. Chinese foods will be available for purchase. February 12th.

The Makena Beach & Golf Resort celebrates the Year of the Monkey with their popular annual Chinese New Year Buffet on Saturday February 13 at the Molokini Bar & Grille beginning at 5:30 PM. The event will also boast a special Chinese Lion Dance and Kung Fu Martial Arts performance by Oahu’s famed Au Shaolin Arts Society starting at 7 PM. The buffet will feature five stations of delectable Chinese-inspired dishes like: roast duck with steamed buns, sweet and sour pork, Mongolian BBQ ribs and kung pao chicken, while more traditional offering includes black pepper beef brisket and fresh steamed monchong with a black bean sauce; plus, an assortment of dim sum and the traditional Chinese New Year Cake at the dessert bar. Event Pricing: $55 per adult; $25 per child (ages 5-12). For reservations or more information call (808) 875-5888

The 10th Annual Ka Lima O Maui Golf Tournament is a great way to go out and support some of Maui’s great causes. Since 1955, they have been focused on vocational rehabilitation program providing job training and employment opportunities for adults with disabilities. One of Maui’s oldest non-profit businesses – they are also its largest employer of the disabled. February 12th, 2:00PM at the Maui Dunes.

Join the Pacific Whale Foundation for their annual Valentine’s Day sunset dinner cruise. The special night departs from picturesque Lahaina Harbor at 5:00pm and 5:30pm, with guaranteed outdoor seating for all (as well as indoor seating for those who prefer it). The 6th Annual Maui Open Studios Event Features Over 90 Artists and Begins Saturday, February 6 at UH Maui College from 5:00-8:00PM, and is then scheduled for 3 more weekends after that changing locations each weekend. It is the first of its kind in Hawaii and was created 6 years ago by a Maui artist. The MOS event artists and artisans open up their studios and exhibition spaces to show and sell their work to the public as well as “talk story”, connect, and inspire visitors through one-on-one interactions and in some cases, live demonstrations. The entire event is free to the public. Weekend 2: Upcountry Maui • Saturday and Sunday, February 13 and 14 Weekend 3: North Shore and Central Maui • Saturday and Sunday, February 20 and 21 Weekend 4: West and South Maui • Saturday and Sunday, February 27 and 28.

Relax under the shaded trees of the Baldwin Home Museum lawn at the corner of Front and Dickenson Streets in Lahaina for a FREE Hawaiian music concert on the last Thursday of February, between 6 and 7:30 pm, soak up the sweet island sounds of artists recognized as up-and-coming musicians who sing traditional and popular tunes, play ukulele, slack key and contemporary guitar. Limited seating is provided; mats, blankets or low beach chairs are welcome. The combo of Hawaiian music in an outdoor venue, award-winning restaurants and vibrant shops creates a memorable setting for an evening under the Lahaina night sky. 

The Art Affair 2016 is an evening fiesta featuring a live and silent auction, live music, dancing, and a gourmet seated dinner, open bar, and an opportunity to gather and celebrate with a wonderful community of art supporters. The event will be hosted on February 27th from 5:00-11:0oPM at the Hui No’eau. The Hui provides an array of programs that support lifelong learning in the arts including public workshops and classes, lectures, exhibitions, art events, historical house tours and educational outreach programs with schools and community partner organizations.
