A Maui December

I have to be honest, there is not much on the agenda for December. However that’s alright as December is probably one of the busiest months of the year for everyone: last minute shopping, prepping for relatives, birthdays (if so in your family), children, and life in general! And even if there was time, I hope everyone is doing their best to spend it with family to make the most of what time there is! Don’t forget to keep places like Paris, Mali, and others in our hearts over the Holiday season!

Family Fun

To support a good cause, the Pacific Primate Sanctuary will host a Pizza Party and Silent Auction on December 1^st, 2015 at Flatbread Company. The Pacific Primate Sanctuary is a federally approved nonprofit captive wildlife conservation organization. It’s entirely ran by volunteers, including mentored students. The Pizza Party for the Monkeys is scheduled for 4:00-10:00 pm and will be held at Flatbread Company: 89 Hana Highway, Paia HI 96779.

Maybe a stretch for family fun, but for all the moms out there that Zumba come out and do it for a good cause! Rayo’s Ohana and a variety of talented, awesome Zumba Maui instructors will be holding a charity benefit in support of Toys for Tots. $5.00 ticket Donation in Advance. $10.00 @ Door. The Haleakala Waldorf Holiday Faire is one of Upcountry’s favorite holiday events, it’s always nice to go out and support our local private schools!

Adults Fun

Maui Mompreneur Winter Craft Fair, indoor craft fair displaying mom-owned businesses on Maui. There will be a variety of products such as crafts, baked goods, clothing, artwork, lifestyle products and more. Support local businesses and find great gifts for the holidays! Slated for 12/13/15 at the Maui Beach Hotel Elleair Ballroom 9am-2pm. Free parking and admission.

Project GIFT will be a day filled with food, fun, crafts and entertainment for the whole family! There will be a Keiki Zone with snow for the kids to play in as well as face painting, balloon artists, games, contests and other fun activities for your children to enjoy. Project Gift aims to, “share the love of GOD with our Maui keiki and their families that are destitute or going through struggles with their health.” Held at the Bailey House Museum on December 5th from 9:00am-3:00pm.

The Arts & Culture

A chance to spend time in one of the world’s most dramatic, surreal, and naturalistic settings is the kind of opportunity that living on Maui allows us to be blessed with. The Haleakala National Park are looking for enthusiastic and physically fit volunteers for an upcoming service trip in Haleakala Crater. Participants will hike in on Saturday December 5, stay for 2 nights in Kapalaoa Cabin, working on protection of native plants in the Crater, and hike out Monday, December 7.  Park entrance and cabin fees are waived for trip volunteers. For more information and to sign up for the trip, see the service trip page of the Friends of Haleakala National Park’s website,fhnp.org.  Leader:  Keith, 264-5429.
