“The 4th Annual Maui 5K seeks to promote health and fitness for Hawaii’s children by giving our schools the ability to increase participation in youth sports and recreation programs by providing additional funds to maintain or purchase new equipment for their physical fitness, play and athletic programs.” Proceeds from the event will be distributed back to the participating Maui County schools to be used to enhance or improve the school’s physical fitness, play and athletic programs. There will be a timed 5K run and an untimed 1Mile run/walk at the Ma’alaea Triangle. All ages are welcome! The event is scheduled for for 7:00-9:00 a.m. on March 29th, more info can be found at www.maui5k.org.

Lahaina Hongwanji just last year

The Lahaina Hongwanji Spring Bazaar would be a great way to start the day off on the West Side before hitting the beach for some waves. The Bazaar is slated for Saturday, March 28, 8am-12n at 551 Waine’e Street (between Shaw and Prison sts). Please join Roots School at Rock N Brews on St. Patricks Day, March 17th from 5:00-9:00 p.m. for a night of fun, food, friends, and silent auction. A benifit night for the Haiku School, in which Rock N Brews will donatatea portion of the night’s proceeds to Roots.

Experiencing Culture

Join legendary storyteller Lopaka Kapanui for Storytelling: Legends & Ghosts on Friday March 20, 7:30 p.m. down at the MACC. In his tales Kapanui explores the question, “Are Hawaiʻi’s gods and ghosts a thing of the past, or do they still exist today?” The specifics might just have you double guessing what you believe in! A native Hawaiian, Lopaka Kapanui, has been described by many as one of Hawaiʻi’s foremost storytellers. He shares more than just Hawaiian ghost stories: he shares his knowledge of Hawaiʻi, skillfully intertwining the tales of Old Hawaiʻi with passion and mystery. Admission price is $20.

Adults’ Night Out

Makena Beach & Golf Resort chefs are throwing their Gourmet Local Hawaiian Food & Wine Event, the chefs put their gourmet spin on popular local dishes at the next foodie & Wine Education Event. Makena’s chefs present upscale takes on three local dishes: Kalua Pork and Cabbage (36-hour sous vide pork belly, garlic and herb roasted Brussels sprouts with brown butter and pork jus lie), Chicken Lau Lau (Duck foie gras, sea bass and Molokai sweet potato steamed in a ti-leaf finished with poha berry glacé), and the Loco Moco (Sunny side-up quail egg and kobe beef hamburger patty served over garlic and macadamia nut forbidden rice, topped with veal demi glaze). Plus, Master Sommelier Patrick Okubo returns with three wine pairings. The event will be held Thursday, March 5 starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Makena Beach and Golf Resort. Entry price is $55. Support the 3rd Annual Grow Some Good: Taste of School Gardens event March 7, 2015 at the Hotel Wailea from 5:00-8:30 p.m.! All guests must be 21+ to attend this event. At the special sunset event, guests will enjoy gourmet dishes prepared with local and school garden-grown ingredients by Mauiʻs top chefs, including: Spago Chefs Cameron Lewark and Sean Schoeben, Capische? Support BasketballMaui’s Golf Madness Fundraiser at the acclaimed 18 hole championship golf course, The Dunes at Maui Lani features an impressive array of facilities designed to meet the demands placed on a premium destination resort property.
