Touring Honua Kai With Yoshi & Takeshi

New Residential Condos Along Kaanapali Beach

For our third day, I thought it would be appropriate to show Yoshi the part of our island that is the most developed, the West side of Maui. With all our expansion ideas for RE/MAX Lifestyle, like opening offices in Thailand and Oahu, it makes a whole lot of sense, with our team growing as such, to focus on the West side as well. There are some really great new condominium projects that are designated “condo-tels,” meaning people own the unit and can use them for their enjoyment as they please; but when they leave, they can put them into an on-site rental program (or even rent them out themselves) for some serious cash flow.

Checking Out—And Checking In At—Honua Kai

I had been invited over by the Director of Sales at Honua Kai, Susan Jackson, to come experience their array of wonderful 3bd/3bth, oceanfront properties. So after spending a couple hours celebrating Halloween on Front Street, we  headed just up the highway to the master-planned Ka’anapali resort, and checked in to our amazing room. In reality, it seemed more like a home, even though it was a technically a condominium, just because it was so spacious! We each had our own comfortable bedrooms, which was perfect after the long day we had spent touring South, Central and North Shore.

After a restful night’s sleep, we woke up to a beautiful day, with spectacular ocean views looking out towards Lana’i. It was so nice in fact, that Yoshi made the best of the opportunity and worked on his laptop from the lanai and enjoyed some truly Hawaiian style work conditions. I think he could really appreciate our incredible Maui weather we are blessed with, and just how different it is in each part of the island. For example, we experienced rain, wind, and sun all within a few hours. That’s typical for us, sure, but not for someone from Tokyo! Actually, I let him know when we were getting the light rain shower, that it was a “Hawaiian blessing,” and a good luck sign for us.

After some work consisting of emails and phone calls, we decided to check out the famous Duke’s Beach House, which is right on the property at Honua Kai Resort & Spa. Duke’s is a part of the T S restaurant family, and there’s different incarnations of the restaurant all over Hawaii and California, including Waikiki, Huntington Beach, Kauai, and Malibu. This is the first one here on Maui, and we enjoyed it immensely.

After breakfast, we walked by their gorgeous pool and cabanas, and off to the sales center where it was still decorated in the Halloween spirit! Honua Kai has a number of different floor plans in 2 main buildings, totaling approximately 650 properties in all. They have been selling very briskly as of late, with only about 40 units in the remaining inventory. We really enjoyed the sales presentation and all got a good feel for the property with what it has to offer. I know these are the type of properties we’ll be looking to sell island-wide. In fact, one of our talented sales associates, Lucas Woodford, has a lot of experience on the West side, as he was born and spent most of his childhood over here. His grandmother was actually an original purchaser on Ka’anapali beach at the Wailer’s Village, and she still has her oceanfront condo all these years later!

As we grow the team, I will constantly be looking towards new, special properties for clients, and Honua Kai represents one such place. Susan also mentioned they have another parcel behind the hotel that may be for sale sometime in the near future. So once they get their remaining 2 towers sold, there’s room for about another 68 homes. With that, I urge you readers to stay tuned and check our blog regularly, as there’s lots going on at Honua Kai and we will be sure to get the info out there as soon as we can!

Next up, we’re off to the Montage Kapalua Bay!
