Kaanapali Fresh is the signature event of the Kaanapali Beach Resort Association. It is a special celebration spanning three superb days of endless fun, killer food, and glasses full of wine on the sands of Pu’u Keka’a (Black Rock).

Already gaining recognition as a prized culinary destination event on the island, the third annual “KFresh” on Aug. 29, 30 and 31 will feature an exciting and sensational new lineup with some som fresh twists.

I highly recommend the Aha’aina O Kaanapali on Friday, the ceremony is the enchanting beginning of a culinary experience through three progessing ages of Hawaiian cuisine. First off is the exploration of Old Hawaii, featuring the clean, natural flavors of fish, seaweed, sweet potatoes and taro. Moving onward is the Golden Era, with the succulent flavors of farm-raised beef and pork, and sweet golden pineapple. Finishing off the night with Modern Hawaii, a unique blend of exotic tastes and various cultures of today’s Hawaii Regional Cuisine.

Accompanying guests will be entertained by Maui award-winning entertainer Napua Greig and Halau Na Lei Kaumaka O Uka. ‘Aha’aina O Kaanapali is slated to be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at The Westin Maui Resort & Spa. Tickets are $89.

Saturday evening is the main event: “Kaanapali Fresh Food & Wine Festival from Range to Sea.” Drawing inspiration from the ancient Hawaiian ahupua’a (land to sea) system, the chefs and restaurants will follow a model of truly “green” living. Showcasing culinary sustainability using the island’s harvest from the range, farms, and sea. Grass-fed beef, pork and lamb, island fish, mouth watering fruits and vegetables all comprise an unforgettable journey of taste.

The event is scheduled for 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Royal Kaanapali Golf Course’s third hole. Tickets are $185.

Cap the perfect weekend off with a big-time spectacle at a beachfront Kitchen Stadium Under the Maui Moon. Six world class chefs will design and execute a six-course menu highlighting Maui-grown products. The dinner is from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa’s open-air Napili Gardens. Ticket ate $250.
