Maui Events in January 2012

Golf is tops on the list of events for Maui in January 2012 but there are may other interesting cultural events and family fun activities.

Sports events in January

If you love golf, don’t miss the Hyndai Tournament of Champions which starts January 5th and ends January 9th. This PGS Tour event will take place at the Plantation course in Kapalua. On Thursday there will be free admission and free parking for the event, on the rest of the days tickets will be $20/day at the gate or $15/day when purchased in advance.

The 4th annual Maui Oceanfront Marathon will be on Sunday January 22nd. The full marathon is 26.2 miles, it starts in Wailea and runs along the oceanfront to the Banyan tree in Lahaina. There is also a half-marathon as well as 15k,10K & 5k runs. Marathon registration is $130.

Arts & Cultural events on Maui for January

The New Shanghai Circus will perform their dazzling Chinese acrobatic skills on January 16th & 17th at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. Tickets will be $12, $20 and $26 and there will be a pre-show dinner by A Saigon Cafe.

On January 29th the Maui Pops Orchestra proudly presents the gloriously lush music of George Gershwin, covering a broad spectrum of styles. Special guest is charismatic pianist Hyperion Knight, who will explore music from the concert hall, Broadway, jazz, and opera.

Looking for a fun and free family event? Celebrate Chinese New year at the Maui Mall in Kahului on January 28 from 9:00am to 2:00pm. There will be Lion Dancers from the Maui Chinese Martial Arts Society as well as the Wah Ngai Lion Dance Association from Oahu.
